Most people and I suppose including me will see the following two words, fat and overweight in the same context.  But are they really?  A lot of times people will refer to others as being not fat but slightly overweight. In other words people do see a difference in being fat and being slightly overweight.  My intension is not to deliberate about the meaning of these two words but rather to throw the proverbial stone in the bush and see what happens.

 

Make no two bones about it, there are a lot of fat people in the world today and I would go as far as to say we have come to live in a fat society.  Can it be that being fat is a state that a person was born with and being overweight the result of neglecting yourself by not eating right or not exercising for example?  I know a lot of people that look fairly normal but when they stand on a scale they push those numbers quite high up.  But these people are not fat or overweight; they are just for the lack of a better word heavy.  There are a lot of statistics that a person can throw together like your age, gender and height for instance to determine your ideal weight.  So in other words one might be slightly overweight for a short period, say after Christmas time but you are not classified as fat.

 

Maybe being fat border lines more on a mindset, in other words fat people are not necessarily born fat but for some or the other reason might find refuge in food to overcome or deal with some or the other problem.  Maybe fat people just love eating period and if a person loves to eat and is happy then so be it.

 

Weight loss products must have a field day with this phenomenon of society and so many products are available to deal with being fat or overweight whichever way you see it.  There must be hundreds of products on the market that deals with loosing weight but the method these products use in loosing weight are all very different.  For example a certain product might be exercise orientated, another might be more mind over matter and some might focus on what and when a person eats.

 

Whatever the method used by these different products they all have the same thing in common and that is to loose weight and for a fat or overweight person that is all that matters.  It is now up to the individual to choose which product is going to suite him or her the best and whether the method of loosing weight used by the product will fit in with a person’s life style.
