Abdominal fat is perhaps the most dangerous type of fat in the body. The United States and many other thriving countries have an epidemic on their hands. Obesity is a major problem that is killing millions. Too much fat throughout the body is dangerous, but excess ab weight is extremely risky. No matter who you are there is a good chance that at some point you will have to battle against too much ab fat.
We all know that ab fat is not the most attractive thing in the world. Thousands of books, magazines, articles, infomercials, and more focus on the reduction of ab fat to form a hot sexy mid-section. What they don't focus on is the health risk of carrying around a lot of abdominal fat.
Your abdominal area is made up of two types of fat. The health risk of one of those fats is very high.
Subcutaneous fat is the layer of fat just underneath the skin. This subcutaneous fat accounts for about 80% of the fat in your body. This is the fat that is often measured by fitness trainers using body calipers to determine your body fat percentage. Although you may have strong ab muscles they are often never seen because of this layer of fat.
The organs of our bodies are protected by a layer of fat called visceral fat. When an excess of this fat surrounds the organs it becomes a serious health issue. This fat often shows itself in the belly of men, and the hips and butt of women. Although these areas have flabby subcutaneous fat the visceral fat usually has a hard feeling to it. As when you push a mans belly and it really doesn't sink in.
When considering the dangers visceral fat is by far the worse of the two. So be concerned about just the outer layer of fat would be a mistake.
You will greatly reduce your risk of many diseases such as cancer, diabetes, asthma, alzheimer's and many more by lowering your visceral fat. You see your bodies immune system is powered by inflammatory messengers. Visceral fat releases too many and sends your immune system into dangerous overdrive. This overdrive attacks healthy tissue and slowly destroys your body.
If all your looking to do is reduce your ab fat and create a tight toned midsection so you look fantastic then that's great. However, now that you know the health risk involved you can use that as motivation to stay focused and succeed. You will not only look great on the outside, but your inside will be looking great too.
Now it's time to get to work. Sorry to say but the ab fads, diets, gimmicks, and contraptions don't work. Stop looking for the easy button. That said it you learn the proper way to eat and workout for ab success you can see results in a short amount of time.
Most people who set out to get healthy and develop tight toned abdominal muscles give up. They start out with good intentions, but find little success. They make up some plan of their own from what they have seen other people do. They fail to realize that most of what they see doesn't work. They don't follow nutritional and workout plans that are successful.
It is no longer about whether you want to rip off your shirt and have others drool over your abs. I want that to happen for you, but as you have seen there are serious health issues involved as well. So stay focused and never give up. Your body will thank you for it.
