Nutrition Club Opportunity
A new business model, Nutrition Clubs, is fast taking the health products and and weight management business to a new level of professionalism. Some estimates are in 50,000 plus unit numbers for the Nutrition Clubs (video) open as of now.
The concept was originated in Mexico where most nutrition clubs are operated in a home. Clients come to the home each day for a meal replacement shake and dietary supplements. The home base club is so popular that one vendor reports that two years ago, Mexico with 25% of the population base of the USA actually surpassed their domestic USA sales volume.
Approximately five years ago a commercial nutrition club was developed in Texas and Arkansas using the same format but they operated from a retail space. Since that time the clubs have grown to over 1,000 commercial clubs in the USA and are now spreading to other countries where the vendor is authorized.
Business Model
The clubs are equipped to meet full sanitation and preparation inspection by the local, state or in some cases USDA inspectors. Meal replacement shakes are served (called memberships) and the revenue from the membership services are used to cover the entire overhead of the nutrition club. Wellness Coaches who work from the club invite prospects to come in for a free meal replacement shake, body analysis and to complete a health questionnaire. The visit will result in a complete picture of the health of the prospect with regard to nutrition and weight management. The prospect has the opportunity to sample the products and make a decision to start a program that day. The nutrition clubs are not retail locations focused on selling the products. Inventory is kept out of sight and there are no outward signs indicating what brand products are carried in the nutrition club.

The programs and getting results for the client are the focus of all activity in the nutrition club. The Wellness Coaches are independent contractors who work from the location and develop their client base by invitations and referrals. A few walk in clients are started on a wellness program and these are distributed evenly among those coaches working from the club.
Income Opportunity
Many multi level marketing programs are difficult to sample or get appointments to evaluate the needs of the client. Prospects are hesitant to invite strangers into their home to speak about personal health issues. The Nutrition club operators offer "Weight Loss Challenges" as a way of building teamwork and accountability among the clients. Nutrition information classes are presented weekly and many publish weekly or monthly newsletters for their clients.
Nutrition club operators have been able to grow their business at a rate 400% faster that the traditional work from home multi level marketing program with the same product line. That equates to thousands of dollars more per month in royalty payments to the club operator who then in turn recruits from within their organization new nutrition club operators. The vendor closely monitors all activity in the nutrition clubs. No misrepresentation or attempt to sway clients from one distributor to another are tolerated. Club layout and signage are strictly enforced.
My personal experience in the Nutrition Club model has been very positive. I started a club in a small Georgia town and grew the business to a ten club operation. Each individual nutrition club is operated by the owner, but as a sponsor of other clubs I continue to receive a royalty payment based on the performance of the clubs and distributors in my organization.
