Rice Bran is the newest and most nutritious food source to be made available
for human consumption in modern history. Rice Bran has the potential to do so
many good things for so many people. It is well known that rice bran is very
nutritious and will be integrated into many foods is great in and of itself,
but because this food source is so readily available, it can be used to feed
the starving all over the world thanks to a group of hard working, pioneering
scientists. Rice and Shine is an
example of a new product made with Rice Bran.[pP]>behinde blue eyes lyrics
The benefits of Rice Bran Nutrition are enormous. Much better than just taking
a vitamin pill, because Rice Bran is a whole food. This means it comes with
all the synergists and co agents required to allow the human body to absorb
the great nutritional value of rice bran. With Vitamins, you are only getting
the vitamin itself and not the mechanisms necessary to assist the process of
digestion and delivery of the much needed nutrients.[pP]>behinde blue eyes lyrics
Rice bran is the part of the rice kernel that is removed from the rice in the milling process of making white rice. While its high quality nutritional value is well known, it was deemed unusable by the food and drug administration. This was because the rice bran breaks down or goes bad very quickly. Consequently, 16 millions tons of Rice Bran was either turned into the soil, burned or discarded. It was the earths most unused food source. Until now.
So now there is a store of 16 millions pounds of food where prior to Patty
McPeak's inventions, this was all wasted, burned or returned to the soil. This
has enormous possibilities to help allot of human beings. This incredibly nutritious
food stuff is readily available from many sources and can be used in numerous
ways to help areas in the world suffering from starvation and malnutrition.
The best form of TRF comes from rice bran oil, which is contained in the outer grain hull of rice. Its properties inhibit the activity of HMG-CoA reductase, an enzyme involved in cholesterol biosynthesis. But taking any form of Vitamin E for a long time can be harmful, so the idea was to find the minimum dose of TRF that provided the maximum antioxidants and effectively lowered cholesterol. This was found to be about 560 IU for a person of 154 pounds.
The founder of Nutracea, Patty McPeak, has many patents now on the processes
required to deactivate an enzyme in the Rice bran that causes it to go rancid
rather quickly. Now, thanks to Patty's inventions, Rice bran now has a shelf
life of 2 to 3 years and a once forgotten, unusable byproduct can now be used
for the benefit of mankind.
Patty McPeak's first product using the rice bran she made available is called
Rice n Shine. A flavorful, heart
happy meal replacement shake. It comes in 2 flavors. Chocolate and Vanilla.
It is a meal replacement drink that is selling now. There are many products
that will be coming out in the near future from lots of companies wanting to
take advantage of this great new food source. These are just the first implementations
for the use of rice bran, but to be sure, the future for this food source and
what it can do for man kind is very promising.
